In furtherance of its mandate of coordinating all interventions in North East Nigeria, the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI), will on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of July 2017, host its maiden monthly Coordination Forum. The event is aimed at promoting synergy among all humanitarian and development actors engaged in the North East, enhancing operational frameworks, building delivery partnerships, augmenting capacities, identifying and filling gaps in the delivery of interventions.
A wide range of stakeholders from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors will be present to discuss, among other things, the challenge of mobilizing and coordinating a vast array of state and non-state actors active in the recovery, rehabilitation and development efforts in the region. The Forum will also provide a common platform that supports all actors in the North East, enable the exchange of information from stakeholders in the humanitarian and development spheres regarding their plans, strategies and challenges. The discussions will revolve around critical themes namely food security, nutrition, health, protection, early recovery and livelihoods, shelter and non-food items (NFI), education and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
The first day of the two-day forum will feature interactions with federal ministries, departments and agencies involved in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North East. On the second day, attention will shift to development partners, international and local non-governmental organizations active in the region. The event which is scheduled to hold at Barcelona Hotels. Blantyre Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja by 9.00am will have the PCNI top management, top humanitarian actors, and focal persons from ministries, departments and agencies making presentations.
